School based occupational therapists help children to participate and interact with others in play. They focus on function and participation, they are uniquely placed to help educators and parents support their children in a variety of ways. This includes assisting in the development of fine motor skills. and helping with sensory processing difficulties. The primary role of the school PT is to help students benefit from their educational program within the educational environment.
Within CORE School districts, OT's provide evaluation, direct therapy, consultation and assist teachers with accommodations and/or interventions within the classroom.
